Latest Trends in Alternative Fuels

Fuel; It drives our cars, it drives us, and it most certainly drives our economy. As the economy slowly ascends from the depths of the recession, it is important that we recognize in hindsight exactly how we had made it there, so that we may never need return. Dependency on foreign oil and fossil fuels has subsequently leaded to the research and development of many new diverse fuel alternatives to combat this Achilles Heel. Of the many new technologies to explode out of this race to replace fossil fuels, the most promising are Biofuel, Hydrogen, and Alcohol fuels. You can find a quick rundown here

Biofuel are most noteworthy because they are extremely renewable and promote low emissions. On the other hand, Hydrogen acts as a completely emission less fuel. When Hydrogen burns/reacts it concludes with a byproduct of water. Though in itself, hydrogen is not actually a source of energy, as other forms of energy must be used to produce it. Alcohol fuels such as Ethanol and Butanol are convenient for transportation. Of all other alternatives, alcohol fuels are the only ones that can be transported by pipeline. Alternative fuels are positioned to set the standard for new generation to come, if we aren’t too late.
